Looks like a monster storm for New England and Upstate NY for Thursday and Friday. All the doom and gloomer's predicting that this one will make the DC blizzard(s) look like a snow flurry.

We got our first storm of the season here (of any consequence).

Woke up to 13" of new snow, snowed all day, still is... another foot I'd guess.

The "big" storm that was forecast for Thurs into Friday petered out...

Now supposed to just get another 6" or so from now 'til friday.

Rain thursday night...

But windy for the next 3 days... gusts of up to 55mph...  yippee..

Power has been off more than on since last night....  flickering all the time it is on..

Yesterday we were looking at nearly 50% bare ground.....

I guess it's winter in central verminmont now!

Initial Snow has turned to rain. The 4inches or so has become a heavy slush or melted away.  West of here is getting nearly a foot though.

I'm getting hammered by 50~60 mph winds here. I went out and loosened up on my ropes a bit this afternoon, I just hope I loosened them enough. I should have just slacked em down all the way. Guess I'll know when the sun comes up if it's still in the trees.  Tongue

We had 6" in 3 hours last evening. I got the stuff plowed by 10PM.
Got up at 3AM and plowed another 12".

With all the snow piled up on the sides of the driveway from previous plowing and these 40MPH winds the driveway fills up with drifting snow. The last 100 ft of the drive gave the truck's bottom a good scrubbing!!!

Wicked winds have wrecked most of New Hampshire.

300000 folks with no power.  I got power at home, but not at work. Looks like I'll be spending the day picking up the tree limbs.

It was warm overnight so no snow or ice, just brutal wind.  Supposed to get snow tonight though which should make the repair/recovery a joy.

I feel bad the line crews, lot's of mandatory OT in the next few days.

The Vancouver/Seattle area is in a more temperate zone than the rest of North America. Nothing to do with manbearpig. Much of what we're seeing this year has to do with El Nino according to the meteorological community, though overall temps have been declining since 1995 or so. Sometime down the the road that natural cycle will reverse again, and manbearpig will return.

Even down here in NC we're getting hammered with the wrap around winds and cold air from the present low pressure and storm system. 20-40 mph gusts, makes the whole house creak at times. Sure does make the aerials swing! Coldest winter they've had since the 70s apparently, but not a surprise.

snowing here.  picked up about 4 or so inches. The good thing is most is not sticking on the roadways.  Shaded areas seem to be collecting most of it.

Found a new way to clear the driveway with semi-slushy snow.  I forgot I had a floor squee-gee for the garage.  Used it on the driveway.  Works pretty good for clearing that wet or semi-slushy snow. It even scrapes hard pack pretty good too.

We got roughly about 12 to 14 inches but there was lots of wind-blown snow throughout last night. Still off and on snow shower bursts this afternoon and into tomorrow.

We got about 25 inches Tuesday night, and through Wednesday...

Wednesday night it turned to rain, and rain all day thursday and part of the night, then it got windy.

Guess we got about 3" of rain on top of the snow...

What a mess.

Were without comm power Thursday from early AM to 4 pm.

Then from this morning at 1am to 4pm...

The only real storm of the season,....

The snow caught up with us north of Syracuse this time.  Got up to find 18 in. of pure snow in the driveway.
Not the nice fluffy lake effect stuff but that heavy, wet, gloppy Atlantic crap.  Gave the snowblower and the
OM a good work out.  At least the sun was out by mid day and the temps were 40+...didn't lose power and
the antennas stayed up.  Gotta be thankful about something.... Cheesy

Those of you who are East and Northeast of the South of Oklahoma, get ready for another.  We had about 1/2 inch this morning and the storm is headed your direction.  Another is due here Sunday night.  Boy where is Al Gore when you want him to testify?
