The snow is disappearing here but after a foggy start to the night the temperature dropped to 4 F and put a nice frost on everything.  The only downside was it apparently frosted a HV insulator somewhere so the line noise wiped out the 75 meter AM net for me this morning.

We got 5 " of snow lst night here in  South Carolina after the prediction of a dusting.

News said we had 660 auto accidents in the upsate late yesterday - Roads weren't too bad - it was the idiots that were driving.

One guy ran up on me from behind last night - I was going about 35 and he was running about 60 up a long hill - about 20 yards behind me - I saw his headlights go away and into the ditch he went - he started slipping on the hill and gassed it - what a DA - My wife had already gotton POed at me for my language as he was approaching - . I got a chuckle out of it.

Those are lovely photos Rodger, but don't you have any antennas?    Hams want to see ur antenna farm!

I heard you mention the noise on the net this morning.   How loud is it?    Hope you can do something about it soon.  I know how it is believe me.  Last weekend I was contending with 30 over 9 noise on 160.  Really takes the fun out of operating.

ABC news said it was snowing in 49 states last night.  Simply amazing!

Correct, that's the 75 meter full wave loop.  The quad and Hy Tower vertical are out in the pasture.

Rob, you were coming through just fine as was WRL and the rest of the pre-net gang but between the noise and some heavy QRM from down south copy was rough on the weaker stations so I am glad Dave took the net.  The QRN disappeared about 7:50 so I imagine the insulator cleared itself.

Thanks Steve!  But I will be happy when that tree has green leaves again.

Bob,

Those were shot with a Canon EOS 1D Mk. 2 using 17-40 and 24-70 L series lenses.  I noticed that I need to clean the digital sensor; one of the only downsides I have found to digital SLR gear.

The camera is definitely more advanced than the operator Smiley

Looks like the ride back from the Richmond Frostfest last Saturday, except we didn;t have the brilliant blue sky as a backdrop. Dreary gray overcast. Steve got some shots around his place in Williamsburg.

Just remember Rodger, with the return of the green leaves also comes the return of band noise, static crashes and all.  Wink

Todd,

You are right about the noise but winter is getting old!  I am from the deep, deep south (1 mile further south and I would have been standing in the Gulf) and after 21 years the novelty of winter is wearing thin Smiley

Rob - the lightning and mosquitoes I can do without and we both had enough of this in MS I am sure!   That was a nice round table on 3880 and it was good that I was testing the HQ-215 at the proper time to hear your CQ.  That receiver sounds a whole lot better on AM with the 3.1 filter installed.
