I'm having a heck of a time finding some small 15A dc meters.  They need to be less than 2.5 inches wide.  I've checked a lot of places.. I can find larger meters, but no small ones.  Any ideas?  I would prefer round, but I don't think I'm going to get that.  I need 12 of them, although only 6 right away.

Let me know  Wink

Steve

Based on the earlier thread I started... I won't recommend Shurite  Smiley... although they do sell an inexpensive 0-5A 2.5" meter

http://www.primetechnology.com/PartsDetails.aspx?PartsId=77&Parentid=28&ParentType=C

If you can find a meter you like with a much lower range (e.g. 0-5 mA) then what I might suggest is the following:

Put a resistor in series with the meter to bring the total series resistance (meter + added resistor) up to 100 ohms [.005 A x 100 ohms = 0.5 volt]. Then, you can use a 0.1 ohm shunt.

Best regards

does the meter face have to be less than 2.5inches or can the cut out be less than that?  All Electronics has square meters with a cut out that is about 2.25inches round with a square meter face about 3 inches wide.

Steve,
you could also go the digital panel meter route.

Much smaller cutout.

Steve,

If you are willing to pay $55 for one - go to the Meter Center. They have new Yokagawa meters which are the old GE line and are still made in Georgia.

They will scale them for you and have shunt rated ones. I use them all the time and they are very good meters. they have 1 1/2 " to 4 1/2"

Do a Google on Meter Center. They usually drop ship from the Georgia factory.

Hi ! Thanks for the replies so far.  I'd like the meter faces to be around 2 to 2.25 inches if possible.

I may not be able to find what I'm looking for, in which case I'll have to modify the physical layout of the meters and use two rows or something like that - no big deal, really.  Just thought it would be nice to keep them in one row  Smiley

The 15 ampere meters from All Electronics look good, but they are closer to 3.5 inches.  I'm still looking, but soon the project will be in need of meters, and I'll have to use what is available   Cool

Thanks and Regards,

Steve
