I had planned to get out to the shack earlier, but got sidetracked and didn't get out there until after 0400 GMT.  The QRN level was lower than usual, and the white-noise jammer was absent from 7165.  The broadcast station that is normally the target of the jamming was coming through loud and clear.

I tuned down the band, and noticed that Radio Ethiopia was absent from 7110.  Apparently they had some kind of technical problem or power failure and couldn't transmit. This further reinforces the case for the jamming coming from Ethiopia.  I recall this happened once before; when Radio Ethiopia was absent from 7110, the jammer didn't appear on 7175/7165.

I called CQ on 7158, dropping down a little to get away from the broadcaster on 7165.  A station in Danville IL came back to me and we carried on for about a half hour.  He was running a ricebox on AM and said this was the first time he had worked 40m AM.  After he signed, Phil, K9FH called from Des Plaines IL.  We carried on for another half hour until the band dropped out from beneath us.
