A friend of mine did that and burned up the wiring harness of a Bobcat.  I was standing right there.  "I don't think that's a good idea, Ed."  He went right ahead. He used more aluminum foil than in your picture.  The Bobcat worked fine after that until smoke started pouring out.

I've had the pleasure of reminding him about it every now and then for a decade.  I suppose I should stop.  Ten years is enough.

A piece of 1/4" control shaft is easier to use...and carries more current.  Wink
