We must have good management, good character, good ethics.

The opposite of this is what we have today and is the root of the problems; incompetence, greed, complacency, cowardice, unaccountability and egotism, etcetera.

The trillions being spent on patching the damage does not address the root causes.

When (or if) you hear talk of poor decisions, self-servidness, etcetera from our leaders as the cause of the problems then we will be getting somewhere, otherwise the crash cycle just starts over again.

Good character, good ethics, good moral fiber... doing the right thing just because it IS THE RIGHT thing to do......

These things reap the proper rewards whether we are talking about business, the economy, raising our children, operating our radios, living our lives....

Doing the right thing is smart.

God is love; love is blind
Therfore, Ray Charles is God.

What was the old joke...

The Doctor said I shouldn't exercise until I get in better shape
So I said "Ok, then don't send me a bill until I pay you"

"We must be smart because we are in charge"

now consider adding an inflection .....  "we must be smart (!?) because we are in charge"

Do you see the dualistic nature of the statement ?

spoken language tends to be difficult to move accurately to written language ...I like schizmatics ..73 ...John

Not stupid, but brainwashed and/or brain dead after thousands and thousands of hours in front of the boob tube.

Last August I tore a book review out of the newspaper; Don Keough the retired president of Coca-Cola had written a book on the pitfalls of the business world.  Actually he is still on the board.  He resigns every year and then they ask him to come back.

The title of his book is “The Ten Commandments for Business Failure” by Donald R. Keough.  In the review by Maria Saporta of Cox News Service this list appears:

“Here are Don Keough’s Ten Commandments for Business Failure:

1. Quit Taking Risks

2. Be Inflexible

3. Isolate Yourself

4. Assume Infallibility

5. Play the Game Close to the Foul Line

6. Don’t Take Time to Think

7. Put All Your Faith in Experts and Outside Consultants

8. Love Your Bureaucracy

9. Send Mixed Messages

10. Be Afraid of the Future

And the Bonus Commandment:

11. Lose Your Passion For Work – for Life.”

Maria Saporta writes “In fact, I asked Keough whether one could take the opposite of each of his Ten Commandments to come up with Ten Commandments of Success.

Again Keough became uncomfortable talking about success.

In the book’s introduction, he actually writes, “After a lifetime in business, I’ve never been able to develop a set of rules that will guarantee success in anything, much less in a field as dynamic and changing as business.”
