Interesting concept.

1000 songs on a "slotradio" card for $39.99, but you can only play the card like a radio.  You can skip songs, but otherwise no editing of the playlist.  You can't use the songs on any other device.

The player/FM radio costs $99 and includes 1 card.

I suppose it could potentially save you money over XM's canned radio and you "own" the "station" forever.

More competition for HD radio.

Wonder how long before the hackers crack the card.  Smiley

Only if I can pick the songs, individually or by album, would I consider that. 1K songs for that price is economical.

There is the flip side, as it were. The songs that are less popular, that are always on the album or on the ever-pristine reverse side of the .45 so those would the ones that would be more often skipped.

Recently, going through the 1254 songs I have ripped from my vinyl, a mere 75 would be listened to frequently.

(I have far more to do, but no time)

so:
favorites: 6% of total.

what do others think, about their "collection-to-favorites" ratio?

It would take many hours to go through a 'real' database of songs and select 1000 that I would wish to hear always.

I wonder if the data is tethered to the individual card, i.e. can you back it up in case the card goes bad?

Just thinking about value to the purchaser, and the purchaser's protection.
