I got an email that showed IXYS has a new IGBT rated for 40 amps at 4000 volts. As I was telling our lighting contractor about it a sinking feeling set in.
I felt like it was a 4-1 goof. I jumped on the net and sure enough. Priced around $60. This would be a perfect part for a low voltage PDM rig modulator with a tube final, a screen regulator/ modulator or a cathode modulator. Heck they would even work as triode modulators in a rig like a viking 2 or valient.
Not fast enough to run at RF though. I think it was around 280 watt dissipation.
