A little humor on an otherwise gray day.  Wink

Check out this letter which I received from a phonebook rep....
Wonder why the company went out of biz?
I am not the best at spelling and grammar, but...

Yes, this was actually sent to my business.  Huh

Received yesterday?
I'd check out his competition and the mailing address....
Pretty funny if real.

Received earlier this year, just happened to stumble across it today.
I saved for reference, a reminder for the next time a phonebook rep asks to "handle" my advertising.

100% authentic, except I went back and blanked out his last name, did not want to be cruel.
In some way, I do feel badly for the fellow, clearly his employer did not do their job in hiring and training.

Perhaps he would be interested in submitting an application to join the 3878 or 3892 groups.  Seems that he might qualify.

I wondered how long it would take for the "EZ-to-use-big-book" to finally crap out. I never could understand why anyone would choose the digital era to start printing and distributing their own phone books, even in Maine.

It was doomed to fail just as a business concept, and the TV ads they ran were every bit as embarrasing as that letter. In fact, I'm guessing this is the very same guy that used to wear that ridiculous superhero outfit and struggled to speak second-grade English in their ads. The "sketchy furniture store" marketing model was not the best choice.

They couldn't get any customers because their marketing did more to repel than attract, printing and distribution cost money, and most people look things up online instead of in printed phone books these days, even in this cultural time-warp we call Maine.

I feel bad for anyone whose livelihood has been upset because of it, but if anything I'm suprised they didn't implode sooner than they did.

Now I want to find a video of one of their TV ads, to really share the experience with those-from-away!
