Hello gang!

I picked up a DX-35\VF-1 combo the other day, both are very clean and in good working condition.

Upon inspecting the DX-35 I noticed a couple of mods have been done. One is the addition of a three position switch and a couple of caps to the tank circuit. This really smooths the final tuning on 75-80 meters.

The other mod has me stumped a bit.
The original key jack has been replaced and two wire wound chokes have been added to the new jack. My guess is for reducing key clicks, but what this does is alter the circuit so that the key has to be plugged in and closed to transmit on AM. Without a closed key inserted, no audio is transmitted.

Anyone know of such a mod? I'm thinking of restoring it back to original, honestly I like the quirkiness of the old transmitters.

maybe the previous owner had an RFI problem and tried to fix it that way. Maybe his mike was close to the key and he thought the key wiring was radiating. Heck I'd just put it back like it was if that is possible.

That could very well be.
I can put it back to original, I need to locate a proper key jack. The one in there now keeps the tip open, I need a normally closed jack.
