Take care with degreasers with 'alkaline' chemicals, as they will darken aluminum with prolonged exposure. Something learned from rebuilding model airplane engines.

Castrol Super clean is a NO GO!

Years ago, I restored a GSXR1100 motorcycle.  I spent $2000 in plating and Aluminum polishing work.  I got the rolling chassis together and noticed polishing compound on the frame in areas.. I sprayed super clean all over and scrubbed the compound off. The second that water from the garden hose hit the frame, the entire lot turned WHITE.  The metal was badly etched..  It nearly destroyed the machine.. I had to take it back and pay another $1500 to get that layer sanded down and polished.

Be very carefull with what you use!
