I finally got my screwdriver antenna repaired so I was out in the mobile this evening on 1885.

Thanks to k1kbw, w1aex, wa3jyu and k1etp for getting back to me.

I also heard k4kyv, w3gms, w1bf, w1ghw, wa1hlr,wa1gfz and w4rq?.

Good signals from all.

Those were pretty interesting conditions last night on 160 meters. During any given transmission I could see stations wander from S-7 to 40 dB over. You were comfortably loud in north-central Connecticut Sam, averaging around 10 dB over S-9 most of the time. In my book that's a pretty amazing mobile signal on 160!

Nah... you always strap in here, but then again, you're only about 10 miles away! I think the last time I worked you on 75m you were down in the little ghetto, around 3740 or so. Do you still lurk in that area? I listen to the AM Canada guys on 3725 quite often, and also jump in and say "hi" to the friendly AM group on 3733 now and then around dinner time. Where you hanging out?

Rob, I try to get away from 3885 unless its the only place there is activity, or if I want to join for whatever reason. Usually monitor around 3700 area +/- and 1885. But I have to avoid the moving neighborhood switcher noise these days. Been off 6 because my vertical ant fell down. But its back up now. Don't do 6 mobile too much because the squelch in the Alinco is not very good for FM. I don't have any excuse for not being on 50.4 though! Maybe just not enough activity. I have this week off and now that the holiday activity is done, I can get back to the radio stuff. I will be looking for the strapper from northern CT............LB
