Saw a program on the tube the other day about counterfeit cables and power strips that are coming into this country....some were very poor quality and could be a potential fire hazard...most were sold over the net....how's a mother to know?..............
Same goes for chinese christmas lights with fake UL listing.

You guys missed my all time favorite.  For awhile one of the large computer companies was charging to remove all that free crap the comes on new computers.   That's right, they were charging to remove all that junk they loaded on that you didn't want in the first place. 
They charge more for unleaded gas and decaffeinated coffee, so why not? Smiley

Anyone know what makes cables "wall-rated"?  Does it really make any difference particularly when the cables are not carrying anything other than low level audio and/or digital signals?

means it is safer to run in walls. like a plenum rated cable. national electrical code stuff.
