From the ARRL Web Site:
After all the ballots were counted, the Delta Division gained a new Director and Vice Director, while hams in the Great Lakes Division voted to keep their Vice Director. The leadership team in the Atlantic, Dakota and Midwest Divisions will remain the same. Terms for Directors and Vice Directors begin at noon on January 1, 2009 and run for three years.

Two candidates, current Vice Director Karl Bullock, WA5TMC, of Ripley, Mississippi, and former Louisiana Section Manager Mickey Cox, K5MC, of West Monroe, were nominated for this seat. With 1148 votes, Cox was declared the new Delta Division Director; Bullock received 993 votes.

From New Delta Division Director

Quote
Delta Division Members,

This message is my first one to you in my new role as Delta Division
Director.  I want to thank everyone who supported me in the recent
election and I want every member to know that I am very grateful for
this opportunity to serve in this important position.  It is indeed an
honor and a privilege to be elected by one's peers to be the new Delta
Division Director!

I also want to thank Henry WD4Q and Karl WA5TMC for all of their help
during the transition phase these past six weeks.  These two gentlemen
have served the Delta Division admirably and we all owe them our
gratitude for their many years of service.

David K5UZ and I will be attending our first Board meeting on January
16 in our new roles.  We will fly up to ARRL Headquarters a few days
earlier to learn the "rituals and customs" followed at the Board
meetings.  My plan right now is to listen as much as possible and talk
as little as possible during this particular Board meeting.  (There
will be plenty of opportunities for me to talk during future Board
meetings over the next three years!)

Please don't hesitate to contact me concerning your views on what I
should do to represent the Delta Division.  I will make every effort to
acknowledge your email messages within a few days; if you don't receive
a response from me within a week, that probably means your message got
lost somewhere in cyberspace!  It is my intention to answer all
correspondence from hams in the Delta Division (whether they are ARRL
members or not) as soon as possible.
I'm also planning to attend as
many hamfests and club meetings as possible during my tenure as
Division Director.

Thanks again for this opportunity to serve and Happy New Year!

73, Mickey K5MC
Delta Division Director

Therein lies the difference between this fine gentleman, and some other directors who claim that non-members are not deserving of a response to correspondence.

Also, Mickey sez he's going to push for a choice of QST, NCJ, or QEX for members instead of having that worthless POS QST forced down everyone's throats.

If this happens I would be motivated to re-join, hopefully in time to cast a vote against the present director in my region.

Some great vintage related articles in the January QST, "Annual Vintage Issue". Membership has its advantages. Anyone can buy QEX and NCJ rags.

Yes it Does...Membership can be a good thing...
I was a member and well,.. that was then...

Always interests me, "Rituals and Customs" I guess going through life some folks live for that sort of thing. Then some folks are hands on types... always looking for change and forward thinking...things to get done...
