I wish I could hear you guys better. You're close to an image I get from that "wonderful" 5 KW all sports all the time AM station (WSSP) that's a mile southwest of me (and whose main antenna lobe passes directly through me - ugh!).

This beauty's 3rd harmonic's at 3750 kHz.
Must wipe out a considerable part of 80 for you.  I certainly understand your frustration.

Perhaps an LC broadcast filter, say 5 poles or so, might help if your actually getting IF images from fundamental overload, etc. of your radio and not just the actual 3rd harmonic.  If it's the 3rd, then it's up to the broadcasher to tone it down....  (yeah, right.)

Yes they do Rick.  It's SO COOL being on 75, and hearing the score for a Phoenix Suns game coming in through the receiver.  NOT!!

Hi Ellen,

Every morning on or around 3885, the W9 folks come blasting in !  How about getting on some morning with that group?  I'm usually on in the morning after 6:30AM (O'dark-30, these days!) between 3880 and 3887 on AM (of course !!).  Often talk with W9GT et al.  Usually hang in to about 7:30 - 8:00, but by then the W9s are starting to fade out.

The other good time for the W9s around here is in the evening anytime.  W9GOB and other are always quite strong at my QTH.  Usually takes somewhat "big" power to plough a channel during the evenings, but always worth a try.  The mornings are much more tame most of the time.

Regards,

Steve

Aw man Steve,

The only time I can, do it is during the weekends, since at that time of the day during the weekday, I'm getting ready for work (and the 27 mile commute it entails).  All I'd be able to do is say Hi and Goodbye.  I've chatted with Jack a bit in the past.  It'd be nice to be able to say Hi to him again, since the last time we talked was April or May.  What time do you guys get on at night (and yes, many nights it's a zoo)? I wouldn't mind having more chats down on 3685, like I had with Don, K4KYV once last winter.

Hi Ellen,

Well, there is usually activity in the mornings (to your part of the world from here) and in the evenings - particularly early.  The weekend mornings tend to be busy with nets and the like, but there is plenty of band space.

If you want to set up a sched for 75 meters (or is that "sked")  I will try to make it, as I'm sure will others.

Interestingly, there is LOTS of early morning activity on 75 meters, at least around 3885.  I was up at 4:00 this morning, and there was quite a group on!  Apparently, this is a daily happening, and the activity generally hangs in there for the duration of the morning.

Last night the band went very long, early in the evening.  The south-east net (or whatever it is called) was unable to carry on with its usual activities due to the long conditions, but W0XV persisted and became the de-facto "net control".  Stations were checking in from all over the country and it was quite a good time.

Regards,

Steve
