1. I'm sick. Some cold finally found me. Feel like crap, on top of the crap I always feel.

2. our black lab Sammy died of heart failure while Glo was lifting her into the truck to take her to the vet. One second, she was with us, next second she was gone.

3. we got a water leak under the house. Plumber coming tomorrow AM.

4. I hope there is no #4. I'm going to bed and stay there.

Yeah, the other Rick seconds that.

You'll be up and shining after a little rest.
Sorry about Sammy.  At least he went with his boots on.  Smiley

Sorry to hear about your lab. We lost ours last spring after having her for almost 15 years. Like losing part of the family. Still miss her sleeping under the work bench.

Derb,

Most of all sorry about the pup.
We had a chocolate for about 14 years. Best dog I have ever had. Had to put him down on Christmas eve. Long story. Still makes me sad but what a lot of great memories..
The cold will go, the leak get fixed and you be strappin soon

The one bright spot is that Maul #1 is about ready to turn on and test, but I just dont have any desire to mess with it right now. I also got the drill bit to put the W7FG feeder wires through the wall. with the 3/8" pvc tubing. Don't feel like that either.

Hope I 'm better by sunday - last hamfest of the year.

Hi Derb,

So sorry to hear about Sammy. I lost my best friend, Max, a week ago last Monday, after a thee week battle against an insidious disease called Pure Red Cell Aplasia, a form of anemia. He was my constant companion for nine years. He loved being with me in the shack, on the couch, or improving the soil conductivity around the BiggIR vertical. He was just a loving dog. He didn't like SSB but loved listening to AM. It still takes a double shot of single malt to get through the evening.

Hey Tim
It sounds like you need to axe your doc for a Zithro Pak. It's an antibiotic to kick the long time cold from your system. About a five day course of pills.
Derb keep at it. It's just part of the dreary days ahead and any left over drugs in your body from your cancer treatment. It took almost two years to get over the devastating chemo and the sleepless nights and no interest in life to go away.

I just got back from an 8 day road trip in an M35A2. Needless to say I am still sore. Specially my butt from that darn seat, and my back from the constant activity of the suspension, and the dust.. So I took to bed Wednesday night and still feel like crap. While I was gone my room-renter caught some kind of ghetto-flu off the bus and he's trying to give it to me.

I hope you feel better, don't forget the vitamins, and I am very sorry to hear about your dog passing away.

Sorry to hear you're feeling lousy Derb,

Chemo does beat up on your immune system.  Even 18 years after he had chemo for his cancer, my dad still gets beat up by colds (although not as bad as he used to get beat up by them 10 or 15 years ago).  Take it easy and get lots of rest and fluids.  Antibiotics won't do you any good.  Due to the fact that a viruses are different kettles of fish than bacteria, antibiotics do nothing for viral infections.

I feel for you about Sammy dying. I remember 2 years ago, when I had to have Cleo put to sleep, due to her going into massive kidney failure.  It was hard to do, and I was there when she was put to sleep.  I still miss her.

tnx all for the wishes re Sammy. Had 2 dogs die in 2 weeks. first pic is Odie, the white terrier.  Odie was strange. He was a cat magnet. Cats simply loved him, wanted to be around him, would sleep next to him, etc. He was always surrounded by cats.

Second pic is Sammy. Most clumsy lab ever -  incapable of backing up. instead would try to turn around no matter how small the space and get herself stuck... over and over. Dog had no reverse gear. Literally a bull in a china shop. her heart was failing. drugs bought her some time.
