I recently obtained a new in the box Collins 512B-2 line coupler which is essentially a broadband 2.0-30 Mc 8:1 balun, rated for 3KW continuous. Feeds from a 50 Ohm coax and loads into 600 ohm open wire line. It uses an RG-17 balun on the input feeding into a balanced tuned circuit to distribute the current evenly into the load. Weighs 100 pounds and is housed in a weathproof aluminum enclosure. Circa, late '50s early '60s. Has anyone used one? I need to find an adapter for the UG-287/U bulkhead connector....like a UG-999/U which goes from male LC to female N...anyone have any ideas?Huh?
I have the manual, if anyone needs a print. This looks like a great way to transition from coax/unbalanced to open wire line using an unbalanced tuner in the shack and running considerable of power without overheating the balun. Comments???

This is a real reach Ken, memory isn't as good as it once was and all that, but....

I think that was used with one of their autotuners, just can't recall which or what app. Might've been Navy? Sounds like it would work for what you're thinking, probably overkill. Heavy, as I recall.

Some of the CCA guys might have a better idea, there may even be info on their site.
