Drake SW8 Info???

Yeah, I know, it's a "sand" radio but.............

Picked it up yesterday at the M.I.T. Flea market in MA.  I did a cursory inspection and it seems to work.

I have read on some of the Google search results that later models have a synchonous detector and would like to look into the feasibility of modding this one. 

I found the operator's manual online but no more.  Anyoen have a schemin-matic or info on any mods?
