I visited Bill in his KY home a year and a half ago; he was selling a GPT-750 on behalf of the widow of a friend of his.  He had a wall of beautifully crafted homebrew transmitters - one a copy of the Admiral Byrd antarctic transmitter, and was a true gentleman and very hospitable.  I also spoke with him many times on the air with the GPT-750, which still has the homebrew mod deck he built.

heard him on many times and talked with him a few. One of the tall ships from that area. Sad

I hope his gear, especially the HB stuff,  has been planned for in advance to find new homes where they will stay on the air and active.
