Here's some new stuff that now appears on the ARRL Web Site. Some great information here for both old and new hams:

Thanks Pete.  Anyone want to take bets on how long it will take before someone on this board starts whining about the content or the intent of that website ?    Wink

I have no clue what you are trying to say. Can you rephrase your comments?

From the Administration and Finance Committee back in Nov. 2007, "In the discussion of 2008 plans, COO Kramer and Jon Bloom reported on the ARRL’s extensive web site, and a proposal for a strategic review of the content, organization, goals and architecture of the site, as a first step in its upgrade.   The Committee agreed that plans should proceed with the review phase of the proposal."

And, from the BoD Meeting in Jan. 2008, "Mr. Frenaye, as Chairman, presented the 2008-2009 Plan as recommended by the Administration and Finance Committee. He outlined plans to begin a redesign of the ARRL Website"

So the "Welcome to the World of Ham Radio" Section may just be the beginning of many other changes that we might see over the coming months.

Carl, I love the Marquee! That's a great trick: I didn't know  my Firefox browser would respond to a "marquee" tag, but it shows it OK in your post. I'll have to put that in my .sig somehow.

Yep,--this so called "new approach" should really bring in the numbers,--can`t wait to see
the results of the "new ham radio" in the near future.

You can add "marquee" (it's the "move" command) when you reply to a post, to a picture, signature, etc.

Nice website.  Hopefully it will encourage some young people to check out the hobby.

Once they get in, we can always develope them into AMers  Grin have to get them interested first!

We can hope. The one thing I noticed on the site was a lack of young/younger people. Most of the photos showed old farts. Like it or not, that's probably going to be a turn off for most youngsters.
