Bauer 707

Who on this reflector is the resident Guru for the Bauer 707 transmitter?  I recently acquired one and would like to know more about the different production runs.  I think mine is of the first edition.  It does not have the fancy glass enclosed meters at the top with the Bauer name under them.  The four meters are there, but are simply mounted in the cabinet.  I would really like to see any up close photos inside and out if anyone has some.  I have found a few online, but none are of this style.  I hope to put this one on 75 meters in time.  I have some cleaning to do and the usual circuit clean up and check.  It is still on the BC frequency and obviously has had it's share of engineers doing their thing to keep it on the air.

Any help, pictures, advice and such will be very much appreciated.

If Dave, K2DK does not respond to your post, you may wish to contact him directly. He is a member of this forum.

Dave is probably the resident expert on the Bauer XMTR line. I think he has two of them, if I remember correctly.

Hi--

Dave K2DK wrote an article about this transmitter in Electric Radio #196 (September 2005), that would be a good place to start. He also mentioned them in other articles in that same series he wrote in his serirs on BC rig conversion. I have heard his Bauer on several occasions and it sounds great.

And of course, Paul Gregg in El Paso, still supports those old transmitters, at least in spirit. He is designer, do a search on Elcom Bauer I think.
