I'm game. The trick, of course, will be getting folks offline and on the air.

For those who enjoy real radio, there's A.M.

For everyone else, there's Skype.   Smiley

Long time lurker here. I'm looking forward to joining you guys on AM soon and like the 40M net idea. Since all I can run at this point is either a DX-40, HT-37, or the ricebox (Hope to replace my long-lost Ranger by next season), 40 has it's advantages here- my antenna is better on 40 than 75.

I heard K9ACT the other night on 7290- great signal. I'll point an ear at 7160 when I have a chance as well.

7160 it is, taken on faith.

I will resume my schedule there and try it for a week.

The robot goes on at 0310Z starting tonight.

However, I just checked the band plan and that freq leaves out the General Class hams.

If we are hurting for AM activity, why shoot ourselves in the foot?

Two nights ago I had the pleasure of hooking a brand new ham.  I was his second contact ever.  He learned very early about AM.  He responded to my CQ on LSB and I switched him over to AM and made a new believer out of him.

That was the QSO I was "reading the mail" on! I couldn't hear him at all but you were quite strong into Dallas.

Good point on the band plan.

Thats correct.  To put it another way, 7175 - 7200 would be inclusive of all US General/Advanced/Extra licensees and would also provide the possibility of an AM QSO with the folks across the pond, many of whom had their phone privileges expanded up to 7200 not too long ago.

Hmmmm,

Intriguing.  I guess I'd better replace the VFO tube in the VF-1 tonight, so I finally get some decent drive on 40m for the Viker II.  Some parts of 40, don't give me as much of a hassle stray RFwise as other parts.  Hopefully that area (7160-7200) is one of them.

Sam got it right  7175 to 7200 would be all inclusive regarding license class.

Monitoring this evening 7160 seemed to be all nets until the BBC kicked in at 0300Z.

7175-7200 sounds like the way to go...

I didn't listen long enough to find out who it was but 7160 was hopeless at 0310z.   I ran the robot for ten mins anway just cuz I said I would be there.  Hope I didn't interfere with the Beeb.  The clearest place on the band was 7240 so I CQed there for another 10 mins and then had a system malfunction and quit.

I listened last night and the entire band was mostly broadcast, with a scant few slopbuckets in between.  QRN was too loud on 75, so maybe I should let my robot run in the background on 40 while I work on a project.
