I did a major upgrade of the 'lectrics in the house (originally built in 71) to bring up to code. Added GCFI's to garage, bathrooms, kitchen, and basement...all places where outlet could be within six feet of a water source or below grade.

Anyway, the units can be used to protect multiple non GCFI outlets daisy chain style, and there are labels to put on the additionally protected outlets. These labels state that there is to be "no equipment ground." I had the same problem of tripping with the GCFI outlet I installed for the dedicated 20A line for the shack. So, Max said just replace it with a regular 20 amp duplex outlet and save the GCFI for when the house gets sold in the future. Done deal. The GCFI breaker has not tripped since removal from the shack line.
