So when we were recently in California, we bought up a small vineyard so we could get some nice styrofoam wine shipping containers.

They now are used to store 810 triodes.

Excellent all around.

Follow the label carefully and you'll be fine later in the evening.

Staying on topic here. Eric, WB4VVI (SK) was the one that sold me on the idea of using liquor cases to stash tubes. He had all his large transmitting tubes in old liquor and wine bottle cases. He said he went by the package store one day where they had all the empty boxes outside. He asked the store clerk if he could have the boxes. The clerk said he could since it saved him the trouble of tearing down and flattening the boxes. I wish I had the 'VVI' collection. Hell, I'd settle for the Globe King 'E' model.

Gee Paul,
I think you need a few more 810s Do you think you have enough to get you through the next decade? (I know the rig uses 4 but couldn't resist)

That batch actually is group owned. They were unearthed in St. Augustine in an upstairs attic when the three of us were retrieving the WFOY Collins 300-G.

There are 10 of them, all "used," but yesterday I discovered that #10 has a busted grid cap that I think I can re-solder and glue back to the glass, so I left it out.

Can't have enough 810s. Since there are five 300-G that we have to support (Jim W8MAQ has two, Tom W2ILA has two, and I have one here and one at W3R), it's not that big of a surplus.

Paul,
I would just resolder it back on and skip the glue. It might stress the glass if you use the wrong stuff. Just use 3% silver solder.
