A good friend of mine that reads this list (I won't mention his name) took a major
lightning hit a few years ago and it took out just about every piece of gear in
his ham shack, plus lots of other electronic stuff all over the house.
The insurance company paid off, but the adjuster just could not understand why
he would need to have more than one radio on at a time. Huh

We all know how crazy those ham radio guys are....

It'd be interesting to know what kind of radios the guy bought with all that money.

"putting his favourite one in the middle – and often had them all on at the same time, a court heard."

Hey, my "favourite" one is in the middle.. and they are ALL on.

Is there any hope for us?  Roll Eyes

Not Just 'radios'....

Police found about 50 wireless sets in his home.

You don't have to have them on for lightning to zap them.  You don't even have to have them plugged in.  My old computer got zapped even though I had unplugged it from the a.c. power mains and disconnected the dial-up phone line connection I had then, well before the storm hit.

Maybe the authorities are being a little hard on this guy. They didn't mention the type of radios he spent the money on, but geez, give the guy a break.

Possibly he surrounded himself with Globe Kings, R-390's, SX-28, etc etc. No different than any of us right?

And of course, if he bought the above radios, he needs to have a pretty sizable spare toob inventory.

Like I said, very possibly the authorities are being too hard on the poor fellow........
