Hi Everybody,

As I mentioned in another thread, my Globe Scout 680's grief, seems to have been caused by a crappy chinese 6146W (I threw it in the garbage).  Installation of another 6146W (all I have - the original 6146 that came with it, is no good) solved its no grid or plate current problems.  So, while my Viker II is still out of commission, I can still make some RF with my PW, Globe Scout.  I want to try and work the Heavy Metal Rally stations, but I don't know what time it starts.  ER doesn't list the times.  Does anybody have this info?

Ellen,
I'm not absolutely sure about this but ER (I think) had the schedule in the November issue and it has started already (12/29).  I'll be running PW.  No heavy metal yet.  Still working on  the 813 rig.  We're getting close though.

Hi Bob,

ER lists everything in the Editor's Comments, except for the time.

I'm not sure what time HMR starts as ER doesn't mention the time. I'm assuming it's already in progress since it's being 12/29.  Could be wrong though.  Maybe later this evening???

Yup, heard the DRM, some slopbuckets up alittle... but most everyone was coming through fine...

After an hour or so, (and a little issue with the tuner arcing over) managed to work or at least hear...

Ugh!  Band's gone long!  I'm not hearing either group now (K3V, Paul's group - on 3870, and W9T, Jack's group - on 3885). I checked 160, no AM at all, just the Stew Perry Topband Distance Challenge on CW below 1850.  Bummer!  Paul, I'd love to try and break into your roundtable with the PW, Scout.  But I also have broadcast breakthrough on your freq.  So, I can hear some of you guys but not all of you.

Hang on Bill,

You'd better call. The SX-96 is sort of "where am I" frequencywise.  I'll tune for you.

Bill, I heard nothing when I tuned in the area I should have heard you.  As it is, my VFO is giving me problems (not enough drive).  I had to go back to crystal control. So, I'm stuck on 3885.  I'll try some CQing later on.

73 & thanks for the QSO offer,

Just had a FB QSO on 3706 with Bill W0W (who was calling you Ellen) and Rod W5CZ, and N4VMY in KY jumped in on low power!

Supprised he didn't tell you your transmitter needed alignment 'cause you had a high pitched squeal on either side of your frequency.

Geez!  You guys are depressing me!  I have a nice big noise source on 3885.  I think it's my neighbor's stupid plasma TV, or that touch lamp that my other neighbor (the guy who gave me the IC-740) has.  Must try to fix Griefkit VF-1 if possible tonight.  Bill, I heard nada from you when I tuned down around where my SX-96 said you should be.  I even swept about 60 kc from each side of where I expected you.  Sorry I didn't hear you.  I wonder if  you called me after I QSYed back up to 3885.
