304-TH - Workin' it

« on: December 25, 2007, 01:56:48 PM »

Excellent sigs here from many western states on 160 last evening. Whoever also was on 1885 from the east coast was also making the trip here, but the locals in the west were ruling the channel so I couldn't copy any calls.

Had an hour long QSO with Robert, W0VMC in Wisconsin over a 600-mile path. Rock solid armchair both ways.

I haven't worked the yeast coast for a long time on 160...Light 'em up, will be haunting the band this evening, 1885 to 1915.

You were making it Q-5 copy here in Rushtown Bill. I tried to break in but I only had the peanut whistle (Viking I) tuned up. By the time I got the MK-214D down there, you and Bob were signing. No doubt, great band conditions.

160 sounded great Christmas night. Heard W3GMS like he was next door! Many other in there with good signals too.

7:40pm EST just heard Warren at Tampa W1GUD on 3675, so there's some life in the band right now anyway.

My memory banks are definitely remembering that 160 really performs aorund DEC and JAN. It seems like after FEB the noise levels return and the 30 over signals decrease.
I'll have to get back to the shack at that 9:30P or 10PM hour. Early eves have some good QSO's but the "DX" is after 10P Eastern time
