He was very involved in building a radio telescope at The Ohio State University, starting way back in the 50's or early 60's, IIRC. Find a copy of "Big Ear" by Kraus. It's a good read.


The name John Kraus came up in the article, too.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. What's the difference if civilization here on earth listens and discovers life elsewhere and thus goes to conquer them?  No different than here on earth between other regions of the world. It's in human nature to seek out and destroy.  In the grand scheme it's much ado about nothing.  Won't happen in my life time.

  They are greedy pompous Jargonists with a Flare for the eclipse...

I forget who said that but it works...i don't necessarily think they're looking at the right format though...radio just isn't gona cut it out there..
