Frank,
It sounds like you want to stick with hollow-state, but
you may recall a TECH thread started by K1JJ quite a while back
where the use of mosfets in the cathodes was discussed.
This could eliminate all that pesky up-front iron.
There was also another interesting one on component
value choices for Heising to help with the back-end iron.

Yea, SDR some days....tubes other days. Real reason is the V2 is sitting on my high power Class e  power supply modulator rack
Now that 75 seems to be coming back there will be a need for speed.
