We ought to do this again for the Heavy Metal Rally.
There's still time to register for a Special Event Call.

I say DO IT.

List the event in the form as:
Heavy Metal Rally

These 1x1 calls rarely get used as a group event, very cool.

http://www.ncvec.org/1x1_request_form.php

The Heavy Metal Rally is Saturday Dec. 29th.

I have just applied to register myself as K3V again, for a time span for a few days ahead and after the date, to promote and wrap up under the Special Event Call Sign.

In the Details field, I put the following (suggested for all)
Annual gathering of vintage AM transmitters weighing more than 250lb and/or more than 250W, nationwide event sponsored by Electric Radio magazine. Details at http://amfone.net

I will write something up to push out to QRZ.com, eham.net, here of course, and for the reflectors to drum up notice.

Great calls, I like the one with WV , unintended I think. Smiley

Yeah doing it again, cool idea Paul; thanks for posting the site. Oh, who're you using for a sponsoring org?
Somehow I don't see the ARRL sponsoring an event based on weight and QRO. heh, heh.

Electric Radio.
I said it in my app details, I don't think I filled in that box in the form field.

As far as coordinators --
Win Guinn at WCARS has been extra good at quick turnarounds.
Great guy.

Feel free to use AMfone as the sponsor and you can use my name as the coordinator if you wish to fill in the blanks.

OK, we've crossed the Rubicon and registered as W8R; Dec. 27 to Jan 10. Hope the registration is approved in sufficient time.

No problem using AMFone as the sponsor but unfortunately, couldn't use you as the coordinator.  It seems that field is preassigned with a pull down menu.

I used the ARRL as a coordinator.  Guess that was a mistake.  I haven't heard yey or ney from them on my 1x1 yet.

How long does it take to get the call?  The list looks mighty slim in 9-landers. I wouldn't mind doing it, but I don't want to get a 1x1 W9 or (lets be a maverick), 1x1 K9, if the Viking II is still down.  I love doing special events.  I used to be the chief operator for the W9DK special event station from the WW2 submarine USS Cobia, up in my hometown of Manitowoc, WI.  It's fun!

I have also applied (and just received approval) to revive W9T for this year's festivities.
