A technical treatise, written by Hal Mandel, W4HBM, appears in the November issue of the K9YA Telegraph.  It gives some good data on power supply theory, and answers many of the types of questions about power supplies I have seen asked on this board.

This is a monthly online newsletter in PDF format, available by subscription only, but the subscription is free.  All you have to do is to sign up for it.  You receive notification by e-mail, with a password-protected link for the download.  It is primarily oriented towards the CW community, but much of the content would be equally of interest to AM operators.

But make haste.  The download will be disabled after November 5, 2007, although signed up members may request special downloads for back issues.  You can save your copy to the hard drive and print out the entire issue, but it wouldn't let me copy and paste selected excerpts (apparently, they have somehow disabled the "copy to clipboard" function on Adobe Reader for this file).

I tried anyway, and seem to have been accepted. I'll see if I get notice to download, or if it's just the mailman machine left running there.
