I think I have a positive ID on this sucka, please consult page 140 of your 1955 ARRL Mobile Manual, and have a look at "A Versatile LowPower 'Phone CW Transmitter."

It strikes me that even if you fixed up the mod stage, it is still too PW to effectively run into a grounded grid amp.
