Isn't this just the coolest graphic?

Somewhere in the valve train/gearing we could add a generator. I think there was one for lighting but it may have been air compressor/air turbine driven. I wonder where we'd place a longwire on a J2 Hudson? Anyway the ground must be pretty good for a mobile.  Trickle a little salt water on the tracks and it should be even better.  Too bad 1/4 mile continuous rail came out so much later in history.

In the late '20's, steam driven electrig generators were added to steam locos.  A separate pipe was drawn from the boiler to a generator on the top of the boiler (near the cab).  Pyle-National, and others manufactured steam gennies.  The generators produced 32 and 75V DC, which was fed to the loco, and train via "MU couplings".
