As far as I know this is the first known aircheck of
new licensee Carol Esposito, KB3OMT.

You can hear some QRM in the background, but already
she knows mitigation techniques to squelch it down.

Good job on the audio Paul, and on getting yet another YL into the hobby Frank. They make far better allies than enemies!

Yo Frank,

Congratulations again on getting Carol into the fold. I guess that now she is a ham, you can ease up on the WAF (wife acceptance factor) when designing the appearance of the station. But Carol may now start to insist on putting some doilies on top of the 4-1000A rig, and some Norman Rockwell figurines on top of the R-390A.

I look forward to talking with Carol on 75M.

Best 73,

Bruce

Actually, guys, she has been a long time listener at my side. She used to love the friday / saturday evening break in sessions as much as I did. She used to get as good of a giggle as I did. She is now overjoyed at the ability to snipe in a comment of her own when she wants to.

what can I say, A new ham and a full time AMer!! She absolutely hates the sound of SSB and calls them "Sidewinders"!

"WAF" is not a problem, she likes the techno look of my shack, the only "decoration" she added (with great joy) is the framed copy of her new general class lisence!

She is now even more looking forward to the party because she is now actually part of the group and not just Mrs. KB3AHE!!

Hmmm.............. I wonder if this is a "womens lib" thing..................

When I saw the name Carol as a new AMer I thought Steve's XYL made it into the fold.
Welcome KB3OMT
Paul that room heater brings back some memories of the 50's.

My wife encourages my radio hobby and she loves it when I head off for fester's.  She's always interested in the things I bring home or the people I meet.  I've tried getting her interested in radio but she has no interest.  She does like to listen on occasion but that's about it.  Maybe someday she'll be interested in a license but I have my doubts unless other YL's get their tickets.  Maybe we could be onto something. I'll keep tryin'.

See ya' in a couple of weeks.

Frank,
Please pass Carol my congratulations on getting her license.
I heard the two of you on the air the other day.
Have you decided on "Old Man's Transmitter" or "Old Mother Trouble"?

Good Deal Frank, I think this calls for a bigger rig. If two hams live in the same shack can you run double power?

Actually, I like "old mangey turd", but that usually gets me a slap in the back of the head and a few spoken vulgaritites, I guess we'll have to settle for "old mother trouble" or "one more time".

You know thatz a really good question and open for a lot of interpretation. Hmmm.......................
I guess I'll have to ask Riley for a clarification on that one Wink

YUP you need a BC trig now coz the lady's voice needs a higher quality processor and modulation transformer. Those middle/high frequencies are difficult to pass in the table top units and rack mounted units...........hi
