I heard about this a few months ago on NPR. Seems like it would be a no brainer for law enforcement. It is amazing how it reads the small data tag on the plate. They are testing it in LA now. They said it changed the number of license plate hits an average two man police team scored from five per week to over fifty per day. Talk about overload.

Team this up with the RFID chip equipped drivers license cards and national ID cards some groups want us to carry and you will never be alone. The cops can hang out at Starbucks all day with a laptop and wait till the bad guys pass by.
