When it just won't stop smoking, blowing fuses, arcing, shocking you, eating unobtainium..............

Designed to fix the problem.  If you want something you can take your frustrations out with, get the BC-706 Impact Destruction Switch so you can do the same thing by throwing it against a (substantial) wall.

But no one has thermite plugs in stock. Seriously, it would be keen to have one for a special data storage device.

FANTASTIC!

"...must have..."

Put an offer in on one.
Really, how GREAT will that look mounted near some R-390 or SP-600??

Think I'm going to set mine up with a relay to trigger some really scary sound effects, a bit of hold-in time would be perfect (could do it with a transistor circuit too... or a 555, of course).

I've got this neat box, that I've had for years, WAITING for the RIGHT way to use it. It's a slow flip flop that flashes two 120vac lamps! PERFECTO!

Yep, so it will set off something like Star Trek "red alert" sound and FLASH some bright RED lights!

So, here's how it goes...
Visiting ham, comes over, etc...
"Hey, nice stuff"
"thanks, worked hard on these to bring them back..."
" Nice SP-600..."
"here, sit down and tune it..."
" say, what's that red box do?"
" not much, it's Cold War vintage stuff, thought it looked neat though!"
" what happens if you push it?"
" oh... not much. You can try it, just make believe we've been compromised by the enemy and we have to destroy the gear! QUICK! Push it!"
------- <cue in> sound of Star Trek red alert, bright red flashing lights...</cue in>

Great stuff!

That does tend to cause a problem.  Stuff is hard to come by.  Guess you could make a little homebrew thermite.

Bear -  I believe you have the right idea.  Shields up, Battle Stations.

Otoh, it would make a dandy doorbell... maybe I ought to have ordered two??

What's that stuff they use for "bonding" cable to tower legs? That might work, if ur short on "thermite".
Or did you say "termite"?

So, here's how it goes...

No, no, NO!

Subtle! It's got to be subtle!

Use a simple latching relay to kill the AC to the shack. If someone pushes the button, you say "Don't move! Listen to me very carefully! I am going to go next door and call the bomb squad ..."

See? SUBTLE!

Shack lights go off, menacing red emergency lighting goes on, one minute timer activates with deafening klaxons. Hand the hapless victim a shiny metal key (one of two), tell him/her we must turn these keys exactly at the same time. Drop your key on the floor at 5 seconds to go, swear mightily, run like hell. Post on YOUTUBE so we can all enjoy.

Making AM GREAT Again!

« Reply #10 on: April 03, 2016, 10:33:52 AM »

I know,  it's a CB shop,  but these guys will program a sound byte onto a chip for ya.   30 bucks,  I think.

https://bellscb.com/products/noisetoys/index.htm

They also have a 'battlestations,  battlestations,  all hands on deck'  sound taken from an early WWII movie that would be great in this regard.

I might have to waste some money here...   Lol

Yes, the timer... hmmm...

The keys... hmmmm...

Do I have to break the glass to get the keys??
Dropping one, perfect!! HA!

(of course then I need some very exotic looking keys and lockswitches to insert them into!!)

Yes, this could be a very excellent short for yoohootoobe!

           _-_-

Of course a prerequisite is that a ton of gear needs to mounted in those sloping rack cabinets,
or the standard ones with the shelves, etc... has to give the proper Nike silo look to it...

Here is part of the original series red alert.  Still looking for the long version with all the  sound effects.
