Rest in peace Walt.  I really got a lot out of your book, and spoke to you a few times about some transmission line related algorithms I was coding.  I wondered, but forgot to ask, if there was any relation to the OTHER well-known Maxwell.

We were very lucky indeed to have Walt spend a big part of his life sharing his thoughts and knowledge with us. As a writer, I know that writing is hard work.

And we at AMfone were doubly lucky to have Walt right here, having conversations with us.

Thanks for the moments of time, Walt...

I never spoke with Walt on the air or in person but was happy to do it here. He was the only person that I ever asked about WLW when it was running 500 KW. I think he lived somewhere withing a 100 miles or so of the transmitter site.He told me that during the day time when other BC stations on the dial would be at about S9, WLW was up against the pin! Many have lived through exciting times but Walt, in my view, invented exciting times

Richard:

May God bless you and your family during this time of grief.

Your father was a gracious man and gave me and many others much advice regarding
communications.

I treasured any and all notes and tips he sent me and I know others feel the same.

Walt, I'll miss you.

I was saddened to see this notice, I really enjoyed Walt's postings and  his writing. He was one of the giants in the 'greatest generation', with lasting accomplishments that few manage.

RIP Walt.

1980 was only yesterday..........that was the year I met Walt.  I was a 20 year old kid, and knew little of the world.  He moved to my hometown upon his retirement.  He would become one of my most important mentors, teaching not only the principles of antennas and transmission lines, but also stopping to impart rich lore along the way.  I heard many of the stories found in Reflections III while sitting with Walt in his living room.

Well, the years flew by.  I garnered an MD and a PhD along the way.  In 2007, I published an article describing a quadrature drive system for MRI coils.  It works beautifully.  I told Walt of my idea one day.  During one of my Florida visits, we cobbled together a crude prototype on his shop desk and let her rip at around 8 MHz.  The scope showed a somewhat distorted circle, but good enough considering how crude our setup was!  I grinned: "Looks like I have a paper." I said.  In October 2007, the paper came out.  Walt was proud to see his current balun enter the world of Medical MRI.

Well, I am working on a new development along these lines.  I suspect it will work well. Sadly, Walt will not be here to see it.

So long Walt!  You were one of the best!

My condolences to Walt's family.

I still have my "Reflections III" in my bookcase and have referred to it many times.
