Author Topic: is the 6293 a sub for the 6146?  (Read 3534 times)

I just picked up a viking ll today. When I looked into it and pulled the final tube it had jan crc-6293 in it, and could not find a number for the other final, is this a substitude for the 6146 tube??       Matthew KR4WI

Matt,
        A 6293 is basically a pulse rated 6146 with a slightly higher dissapation rating. If you use them in pairs they make an excellent sub for a 6146. (dont use 1 6293 and 1 6146 as a pair) I have personally used them in several transmitters in the past. Best of all not many people know what they are, so they can usually be found cheap at hamfests!

Frank:  Thanks for the reply, they was only one in the final. So I pulled both and put 6146 in, seem to be loading ok. I will ck it more this morn. Matthew
