Heath AT-1 transmitter

The first Heathkit transmitter, a 6AG7 into a 6L6 final. Looks good but untested. No indications of damage or abuse, e.g. tar puddles, electrolytic leakage or burns. Very decent soldering and workmanship.

Front panel very clean. Meter and knobs original. One small front-panel screw missing. Cabinet shows specks of bare metal but no dents or rust. The line cord is intact and looks to be original.

The transmitter was modified at some point by adding OD3/VR150 and OA2/VR105 voltage regulators and associated circuitry. The OD3 is tied directly to the 6AG7 screen and was obviously added to stabilize the screen voltage. The OA2 may be a source of regulated B+ for a neon bulb relaxation oscillator for a sidetone generator or maybe just a CPO—I didn’t trace out all of the additional components.

The single crystal socket on the front was changed to an octal socket, and a ¼” phone jack, where I believe the sidetone or CPO output is available, was added.

Tubes have been removed, boxed, and taped in place.
