Fence wire may be cheap to make radials but is a real pain to keep under control when unreeling. What a mess! Shocked

 Fred,
Have you tried tying off the loose end before you unreel it?

That may help, tie it to a tree and walk backwards as you unroll it. When you reach the length you need stop, give it a good tug, and a couple of whips and it should straighten right out. Then you can untie it and lay it down. Beats having to fight the loopdie loops and tripping over wire..

tie one end to the tree, reel out the required length, cut, then chuck the cut end in your drill motor.   Pull hard as you twist the wire with the drill until it gets straight.

It's a shame I've got a asphalt driveway right in the path of my antenna. While farting around today I found a few thousand feet of 4 conductor telco wire.. Not much good for anything but it would do OK for a cheesy ground field. But I can't dig up the driveway to install an antenna! LOL

The drill motor trick sounds pretty good. Carrying a half mile of wire on a roll to pull out 120 foot runs can be a real pain in the SCR#@E.  Tongue  This DARN rain period we are in has stopped everything outside. Hopefully the "L" can be operational by the end of next month.
