Looks like my neighbor in Wallingford got one too. Maybe now he'll tone down his insanity just a notch. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Lips sealed

Way WAY overdue Brent.

He used to hammer me here really nice with that homegrown splatterbox he likes to run. Last time I he interfered with my receive(about a month ago), I was listening to some poor hump(didn't get any calls) getting bitched out about cars and wire antennas by some other guy who sounded like he lost his meds, but good ol Randy was pluggin' my ears, caw mon.

.017 for V8
.025 for 6

Naaa, thats the point gap settings. The dwell for a V8 is 30 deg (GM peek a boo distributor) but its been so long that i dont remember what it is for a 6 holer. It may be 45 deg, but its been a lllloooonnnngggg time.

30 degrees on a GM 8 or open them till they miss and back off 1/2 turn.
.016 spec but I liked closer to .02. I remember being a kid and my OM treating a fresh GM point set like gold and went crazy if I played with it.

Hot Rod Lincoln

My pappy said, 'Son, you're gonna drive me t' drinkin' ...
If you don't quit drivin' that - Hot ... Rod ... Lincoln!'

Well, you've heard the story of the hot rod race,
When the Ford and the Mercury were settin' the pace.
That story's true I'm here to say,
Cause I was a'drivin' that Model A.

It's got a Lincoln motor and it's really souped up;
That Model A body makes it look like a pup.
It's got 12 cylinders and uses them all;
And an overdrive that just won't stall.

It's got a 4-barrel carb and dual exhausts,
4:11 gears that really get lost -
Safety tubes and I'm not scared,
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.

We left San Pedro late one night;
The moon and the stars were shinin' bright.
We were drivin' up Grapevine Hill,
Passin' cars like they were standin' still.

Then, all of a sudden, in the wink of an eye,
a Cadillac sedan passed us by.
The remark was made, "That's the car for me."
But, by then, the taillights wuz all you could see.

Well, the fellers ribbed me for bein' behind,
So I started to make that Lincoln unwind.
Took my foot off the gas and, man alive,
I shoved it down into overdrive.

Well, I wound it up to 110;
Twisted the speedometer cable right off the end.
Had my foot glued right to the floor;
I said, "That's all there is - there ain't no more."

Now the fellas thought I'd lost all sense;
The telephone poles looked like a picket fence.
They said, "Slow down, I see spots."
The lines on the road just looked like dots.

Went around a corner and passed a truck;
I crossed my fingers just for luck -
The fenders clickin' the guard rail post;
The guy beside me was white as a ghost.

Smoke was rollin' outta the back
When I started to gain on that Cadillac
I knew I could catch him and hoped I could pass
But when I did I'd be short on gas.

There were flames comin' from out of the side;
You could feel the tension; man, what a ride.
I said, "Look out, boys, I've got a license to fly"
And the Cadillac pulled over and let me by.

All of a sudden a rod started knockin';
Down in the depths she started a rockin'.
I looked in the mirror and a red light was blinkin';
The cops was after my Hot Rod Lincoln.

Well they arrested me and put me in jail.
I called my pop to make my bail.
He said, "Son, you're gonna drive me t' drinkin',
If you don't quit drivin' that - Hot ... Rod ... Lincoln!"

One thing I cannot understand about Ron Boot. Why doesn't he simply upgrade his license ? Then he can operate on those frequencies and more and have nothing to worry about. I remember Ron Boot OMZ/novice on AM back in the 1980's when I first got my General.  I can't beleive after all these years he still hasn't upgraded. Why doesn;t he simply upgrade and his headaches with the feces will be history ? Especially nowadays, it's even easier, no code test.  Huh

He used to swear that he passed a 13 wpm code test and that the FCC lost the records of it. He swore that he wasent going to do it again. Now it is just a mute point.........................

Well that's just BS. You got a "certificate" of elements passed from the examiner the day you pass the test. If the FCC "lost" his records it would be a simple thing to photocopy your records and send them in.

I still have my 20 wpm "receipt" hanging on my wall from a session in Cleveland ca. 1981.

Buddly,
          You know that and I know that, but that was his story, and he used to swear to it. That was the story he used to tell when anyone on the air would question his novice lisence. He could have at least upgraded to a technician, that was the easiest test of them all!
