Phase noise will be the issue.  If there is no phase noise, it will probably work very well !

You will need a very clean power supply tuning an oscillator with a pot.
Any ripple on the supply will fm modulate the carrier.

I have a few low current Power One type Computer grade supplies. That should do it. I'm also going to check into changing the rough pot into a something a little less harsh try a precision pot or a 10 turn. Don't know what value it is yet, but I've got a few milspec pots in the shed one might work.

Well,
By the time I get done with this thing.. If it works, this transmitter is gonna have enough JS'ing goin on.. A few bucks even thoug it'll be in a box and noboby will see it, for a nice looking PCB instead of dead bug will at least make me feel better.
