Pick up 91 north in Hartford.
Just over the Vt. line pick up 9 N (NE) into N.H.
nice long beautiful drive.
Then 93 N to Exit 7
no Mass traffic once you get a little in Springfield Ma.
This avoids a lot of crazy drivers so you can enjoy the colors which should be pretty good this year.
I pick ip '91 at exit 48 and takes less than 3 hours.

Code:
Then 93 N to Exit 7

That's 89 N TO Exit 7

Yep, they be forecasting mid 50's for Friday, mid 30's for Friday night and low 60's for Saturday.  So, wear your woolies.  Best part of the forecast for both days is "mostly clear".

Or if time/traffic is an issue, you can drive north on 91 in VT to the White River Jct interchange, then take 89 south to the Davisville Exit, interstate all the way. Left off the exit under the interstate overpass, then take your first road (not driveway) on the right afterwards. Takes you into the fairground from the back and directly to the parking area/gate.  Longer on the map but no traffic lights or slow drivers you can't get around.

That's a damn nice goat, Jack. You bringing him to the 'fest?

Todd,
I think that is a little out of the way for the 3 landers and me. Rt9 is a very nice ride.
The only time I've ever hit traffic is when they are paving the road. and it is a quick wait. The colors should be real nice up north. I don't miss the nut cases on the eastern mass roads all trying to kill each other.

Route 9 from the VT border to Rte 89 is much nicer these days - there are bypasses around Keene, Granite Lake and Hillsborough.  Except for a small section just west and east of Keene, it's a 2 lane 55 mph road.  Color should be nice east of Keene through Stoddard.

Todd, you like the goat, eh?  Just a year ago my XYL, Linda, and I were out in South Dakota visiting my son and family.  Linda was taking pictures of these mountain goats by a turnoff near Mt. Rushmore.  I could not resist posting a picture of one with a "73" for an ID tag.

See you all Friday and Saturday!

Well I missed the Rt 9 exit off 89 so decided I would stay on the highway rather than drive back roads in the dark. All I could picture was hitting a dear.
40 extra miles and the Ma. nut cases on the road.
