Frank,

If you're worried about bandwidth? then a cage will help. But where do we go -  1885 to 1945? That's like 120 kc on 75M, no problem. Even with dropped ends, a single wire shud work FB with less ice loading and neighbor eye loading.

On 1.8 mhz, your vswr shud stay below 1.5:1.   Even a 4:1 vswr on 160M is nothing considering coax loss. Ferget the cage.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Wow.  This is way more than I expected.  And will be a big help.

Thanks especially to Tom, JJ who reminded me that Ohm's Law still applies,
and Steve, HUZ for reminding me to not overthink something so simple as a wire antenna.
