Anyone hear of the Arctic Monkeys?  Awesome Punk/NewWave band out of the UK.  The best I've heard in 20 years.  It's about time someone came out with something worth a damn in the music scene.

Yes and I think they are really good . I have  Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not CD and it sorta like a Jam/Kinks sounding thing with a bit of ska thrown in.  A new EP is due this month. Good Brit pop.

Ed,
Yep, got the same CD title.  I couldn't put my finger on it what it reminded me of but you hit the nail on the head.  Definitely a cross between the Jam and Kinks.  I heard them live on npr.org and they did an hour or so of music with no encore. The interviewer asked why no encore.  They said "that was all 13 songs what do you want?".  I cracked up.

Yeah thats all they have of their own released stuff. I did not hear the program but I bet they were expecting a Jam cover of A Town Called Malace or something Smiley

What I like is the lead vocalist sounds like he's singing into  a D104.

You mean not a Heil?  There is a local band  (Coffin Lids) that sing through a JT 30.  Cramps style Rockabilly always gets a lift with that kind a sound Cool

Yeah, maybe a Heil as opposed to a D104.  The singer has a hollow midrangey sound which makes the music sound interesting different.

I forgot about the Cramps.  My buddy loved the Cramps.  We horsed around with their music when we had the band.  We did a very poor rendition to say the least.

Yep, the Arctic Monkeys are pretty good. My current fave right now are The Hives. Best rock band in the world, IMHO.  Cool
