Just recently thought of another Pontiac that I remember being up there, but I can't remember the numbers. While the GTO was major wood for me, the 2+2 was
major major wood. I'm really hazy about its 0-60, though.
The road test from MT...
http://www.pontiacserver.com/mt22_1.htmlsez 8.1 but that's gotta be BS. Our plain vanilla (and it was white) Catalina 400 did that. Besides, MT's road test of that year's GTO
http://www.pontiacserver.com/mt65.htmlsez it was only 7.2, but I know the R&T test had it under 5.0. I think I remember that MT was always the conservative car mag.
And, thanks to this thread, something dawned on me that I hadn't ever realized. It was while John Z. was hatching the GTO that Lee Alan ruled the radio waves. Gawd, living inside all that while such a callow teeny-bopper must've really left a mark.

I remember racing a 2+2 at the track with my 65 409 Impala . If memory serves correct it was a big heavy Bonneville with a 421 tri power. The 1/4 mile times was around 15.2. Unfortunatly for him the 09 ran 14.2s.
