Does anyone recognize this crystal calibrator? it is installed in a Halicrafters SX-71 I just purchased, I am trying to find a schematic, and instructions.
The calibrator seems to be wired into the tone control switch.
The tube installed is a 6BE6
Thanks,
Scott

Looks like a Hallicrafters HA-19 calibrator. Most of the calibrators for tese short wave receivers were very similar in design. None of it is rocket science design.

Don't know why it has a 6BE6 a pentagrid converter.  Most calibrators used a simpler 6BA6 pentode in a Pierce circuit, like the Collins 75A series where the crystal is connected between the grid and screen.  Since the 100kc crystal is missing, you might just pull the tube or the whole calibrator and save a little current draw until you find a crystal.  Hope your SX-71 is working; fine ol' general coverage rig.

The calibrator schematic is in the 75 A-2, 3, etc. manuals and will work on the front end of any similar receiver of the era.

I keep forgetting to click to get an e-mail for replies...Grrr
I had a problem getting the receiver going, and found this.... top slug
I crazy glued it back together, and installed it in the bottom slug position, that way if it separates, it will still work fine, unless upside down.
The receiver works fine now, I just need to finish doing a proper alignment.
Thanks for the calibrator info!
