First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021 to ALL!

Now that an effective vaccine is here and people are starting to receive their shots it is time to look ahead to the time when we can reconvene NEAR- Fest again.  We are planning the “next one”, NEAR- Fest XXIX for Friday April 30th  Saturday May 1st 2021 as well as NEAR- Fest XXX on October 15th and 16th 2021.

Mark your calendars!

Also keep your eyes on our Web site, www.near-fest.com for all offical information and details.

Advance tickets and inside parking passes are being sold by mail only.  The admission price at the gate will be increased to $15.00 but the advance tickets are still $10.00 per person.  Full details on advance purchase here:

http://forum.near-fest.com/index.php?topic=1508.msg3516#msg3516

In the event that the spring 2021 event cannot be held tickets and passes purchased for same will be honoured at “the next one”.

We are all looking forward with eager anticipation to our joyful and long overdue return to Deerfield in 2021.

73 and Happy New Year to all!

MisterMike, W1RC

I am sad to report that we lost our beloved Gatekeeper, Gardi, KA1BTK, who was taken from us on November 11th 2020 (not from Covid-19) at the age of 62.    On the happier side our Sergeant-at-Arms Paul DePetrillo, contracted Covid-19 in October but soundly “kicked its ass” and “made the virus his bitch.”  Paulie is recovering at home in Warwick RI and is looking forward to getting on HF with his new toy, a Yaesu FT-891.......

I'm happy for our friends in New England.

Unfortunately, our Ham-Com has decided to throw in the towel for good.  Cry

I had heard that.  Ham-COM was a big show.  NEAR-Fest is not.  We can weather this storm financially no matter how long it takes.  Our relationship with the fairgrounds folks is excellent and they have rolled over our deposits from 2020 so we haven’t lost anything (except the gate revenue).
