From Jim/W5JO on the AMRadio reflector:

Sadly I must pass along that we lost Brian, W5AMI sometime last week.  Brian
was the founder and owner of this group and will be missed.

He was active in numerous other hobbies including astronomy, photography and
refurbishing classic broadcast and amateur receivers.  He was active in
amateur clubs including those who produce the Mena, AR hamfest and the one
at Petit Jean Mountain.

At this time I have no further details of any service.  Preliminary
information is there will not be a ceremony for some time.

This information is second hand and as I learn more I will post it.

Most of you probably know that Brian was the founder of the AMfone.net domain and website back in 1997 which he later merged with the (then) N2INR AM Classifieds and (then) WB3HUZ AMWindow BBS/message board section. He also started the AMRadio email reflector which is still active today.

Have known Brian for many years and spoken with him on the air, online, and over the phone, but never had the pleasure of meeting him. Closest we got to it was exchanging Christmas cards.

I'm not sure what to say beyond that - Brian was always a gentleman on the air and off, loved ham radio and especially AM and did as much as he could to promote and support it. The hobby needs more like him.

He will be greatly missed.
