1.2W dissipation per triode and high mu; it could be used push-pull with positive grid voltage (AB2), zero bias.
5 watts of class AB2 from a 12AX7 should be possible...

pg. 338 of the magazine, but page 52 on my version of Adobe Reader.

The 5watts is for both sides of the dual triode run in parallel, with grid current being drawn, intermittent duty.
So quite possible.
